Chunky barrel invites a true hand on the crayon. Six flats stop it rolling off the table, twenty millimetres of solid wax stops it snapping, and the flats give a small hand somewhere to put a thumb.

About 12 to 18 months. Palmar, whole-hand grip. Sensory scribbling, big paper, short sessions.
Finding Fingers
About 2 to 3 years. Digital pronate. First intentional lines, circles, wide path traces.
Tripod Forming
About 3.5 to 4 years. Static tripod. Pre-writing patterns that set up handwriting later.
Pre-Writing Mastery
About 4 to 7 years. Dynamic tripod. Name writing, letter formation, school readiness.

Before you buy
What age are Cognito crayons for?
From first marks (about 12 to 18 months) through pre-writing (about 6 to 7 years). The crayon stays the same.
Are they safe if one ends up in a mouth?
Non toxic. Safe if it ends up in a mouth, boring enough that it will not stay there. It is a drawing tool, not a snack.
Can our centre buy bulk now?
Yes. Bulk packs are available. Crayons plus educator resources on subscription are waitlist-only until that offer is ready.
